Founder + Editor, SignalGigs
James Mac is the founder and editor of SignalGigs. He writes the Friday Flash report on the highest-paying AI training jobs, plus periodic pay-data analyses and platform spotlights.
Before SignalGigs, he worked across AI / ML and remote-work tooling. He started this site in early 2026 after watching friends spend hours hunting for legitimate AI training gigs across a dozen disconnected platforms — all with different pay structures, different referral programs, and different ways of disappearing the next day. SignalGigs aggregates the live listings, normalizes the pay data, and reports the patterns underneath.
He covers: AI training pay rates, platform changes (Mercor, Micro1, Handshake AI, Outlier, and the long tail of smaller boards), domain-expert recruiting trends, and how the AI labor market is breaking down by language and specialization.
