October 2026 in AI training jobs: the numbers.
913 new AI training listings appeared in October 2026, fewer than September’s 1,163 but more than August’s 735. The count matters less than what moved inside it. The board pulled toward two ends at once: language work spread to more than 80 languages and dozens of countries, a lot of it modestly paid and more of it in person, while the top end turned medical, with physician roles up eightfold since August. The middle of the pay range thinned. Here is the breakdown.

What moved, month by month
Most rows count new listings whose title names the kind of work, so they don’t depend on how a listing was categorized. Against August, every one of them rose, most of them steeply. Against September, two fell: total volume, and attorney postings, which had jumped in September.
| New listings with… | Aug | Sep | Oct |
|---|---|---|---|
New listings Each posting counted once | 735 | 1,163 | 913 |
Physician and specialist-doctor titles Radiology, oncology, surgery, psychiatry and more | 7 | 20 | 56 |
Search-engine evaluator roles One per country and language | 0 | 4 | 39 |
Speech and voice recording roles Mostly native-language conversation | 9 | 26 | 52 |
Paid study listings Research studies, many in person | 5 | 5 | 22 |
In-person listings Not marked remote, and no remote option in the location | 59 | 60 | 75 |
Attorney and lawyer titles Up in September, down in October | 12 | 34 | 21 |
More than 80 languages were named in October job titles, against about 60 in August and 50 in September.
The pay split
In August the board was top-heavy: almost two thirds of the hourly listings with a readable rate sat in the professional middle, $50–129/hr. By October that middle held 45%. The share at $25–49/hr tripled, carried by language work, and the share at $130/hr or more reached 18%, about half of it medical. The median top rate fell from $80/hr in August to $65/hr, where it was in September, but that is a story about the mix, not about any one kind of work paying less.
| Top hourly rate | Aug | Sep | Oct | October |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Under $25/hr | 8% | 8% | 4% | |
| $25–49/hr | 11% | 25% | 33% | |
| $50–79/hr | 27% | 25% | 19% | |
| $80–129/hr | 39% | 33% | 26% | |
| $130/hr and above | 14% | 9% | 18% |
Hourly listings with a top rate we could read: 486 in August, 497 in September, 326 in October. Percentages are rounded. Many October language and study listings state pay per session, or in a form we don’t yet read, so they are not in this table.
Same job, different price
Search-rating is the clearest case of AI training work being priced by country. The task is the same everywhere: judge whether the results for everyday queries are relevant, across text, images, audio and video. The stated top rate is not. On October 30 it ran from $4/hr in Indonesia to $30/hr in Switzerland, a 7.5-fold spread for one job description.
| Country | Stated top rate |
|---|---|
| Switzerland (French, German, Italian) | $30/hr |
| Norway | $23/hr |
| Denmark | $22/hr |
| Australia (English) | $21/hr |
| Netherlands, Sweden | $19/hr |
| Austria, Belgium, Ireland | $18/hr |
| New Zealand (English) | $16/hr |
| United States (Spanish) | $15.75/hr |
| Canada (French), Japan | $15/hr |
| Israel (Hebrew) | $13/hr |
| Poland, Saudi Arabia | $11/hr |
| South Korea | $10/hr |
| Singapore (English), Taiwan, Turkey | $9/hr |
| Argentina, Hong Kong | $8/hr |
| Thailand | $7/hr |
| Brazil, China, Mexico, Ukraine, Vietnam | $6/hr |
| India (nine languages) | $4–6/hr |
| Indonesia | $4/hr |
Every open search-rating listing that states a rate in US dollars, October 30, 2026. India covers Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil and Telugu. Spain and Portugal state theirs in euros: €10/hr and €8/hr.
What the patterns suggest
Breadth of language is now the volume engine. Search rating in 39 country-and-language pairs, conversation recording in languages from Akan to Zulu, voice testing in Korean, German, Dutch, Japanese and Mandarin: the demand is for native speakers of many languages, not for a few big ones. That opens the door to people almost no other remote work reaches. The trade-off is the local pricing in the table above.
Data collection is leaving the screen.Paid study listings went from 5 in August and September to 22, and in-person listings rose by about a quarter, to 75. They range from three-day studies in New York on how people use their phones ($1,200–1,600) and household-task sessions in Los Angeles ($100–200) to on-site linguistic projects in London. Real-world behavior is harder to capture than text, and it is being paid for by the session.
The expert end is turning medical.Listings with physician and specialist-doctor titles went from 7 in August to 56 in October, with a median top rate of $180/hr among those that stated one. The month’s highest rate was medical too, an oncologist role at $450/hr, ahead of three regulatory-attorney roles at up to $400/hr; radiology, orthopedic surgery and cardiology listed $350/hr. Much of the work is judging AI answers in the physician’s own specialty for accuracy and patient safety.
Legal eased. Attorney and lawyer titles fell to 21 from 34 in September (August had 12), and the median stated rate among them was $125/hr. The demand that remained was specialized: regulatory niches such as gaming, energy and product safety, plus contract attorneys for litigation and transactional work.

Methodology
A listing counts toward the month in which our tracker first saw it on a platform’s own job board, whether or not it has closed since. October’s data runs through the October 29 scan; scans are periodic, and none ran between October 13 and 23, so the October 23 scan picked up ten days of postings. A posting counts once where we could tell a board advertised it under several headlines or our tracker recorded it twice, and the August and September figures are recounted the same way (the August report’s 768 becomes 735). Salaried positions are excluded. In-person means not marked remote and with no remote option in the location. Pay bands use the top of each hourly range, within $3–500/hr. The month-by-month signals match words in job titles (for example “radiologist”, “psychiatrist” or “MD” for physicians), because category labels for some October listings were corrected during this review and would skew a category comparison. The open-listings figure counts what the site shows on October 30.
