Medical Coder

The work

Contribute coding expertise to AI training by reviewing medical documentation, validating codes and explaining difficult cases. Maintain accurate clinical datasets using current official coding references. Previous AI experience is unnecessary.

• Annotate and review records for documentation supported ICD-10 and Current Procedural Terminology code assignment.
• Apply official Evaluation and Management leveling guidance to validate and enrich datasets.
• Consult current references to keep work aligned with coding standards.
• Clarify clinical documentation and project requirements with stakeholders in writing and conversation.
• Explain coding edge cases and suggest improvements to guidance and review workflows.
• Help create and validate code datasets for model training.

Experience and skills

• An active AAPC Certified Professional Coder credential is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10, Current Procedural Terminology and Evaluation and Management leveling.
• Experience with varied clinical records and associated coding issues.
• Clear written and spoken communication with careful attention to detail.
• Access to up to date official diagnosis and procedure coding books and Evaluation and Management guidelines.
• Digital annotation or data project experience is helpful.
• Commitment to accuracy, quality and ongoing learning as healthcare and technology develop.
