Hardware engineering for AI training

Create, solve, and evaluate realistic engineering challenges that require technical judgment, quantitative reasoning, and independently verifiable answers. The work values engineers who connect first-principles reasoning with physical and practical constraints.

Relevant experience includes bringing a hardware system into production, validating models against test data, creating verification methods, or diagnosing difficult failures.

Responsibilities

• Develop technically rigorous, self-contained hardware problems based on industry or research scenarios.
• Produce reference solutions through calculations, simulations, scripts, experimental reasoning, or other suitable methods.
• Validate results with relevant tools such as Python, MATLAB, Simulink, SPICE, Julia, C/C++, test automation systems, or equivalent engineering software.

Preferred background

• A bachelor's, master's, or PhD in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, aerospace, or systems engineering, applied physics, or a closely related field.
• Substantial professional or research experience in hardware, product development, systems integration, testing, validation, reliability, or failure analysis.
• Direct ownership of a significant engineering problem, such as production delivery, a model checked against physical tests, a test system, or a complex failure investigation.
• Experience working with coding agents is required.

Contract and selection

This worldwide remote contract is approximately 15 hours weekly, with flexible hours and days, including weekends if desired. The advertised range is $60 to $120 per hour, while actual payment is per task meeting specifications.

Task time varies by experience and workflow, and minimum submission requirements apply. Selection includes screening questions, an AI interview lasting approximately 30 minutes, and hiring manager review.

Immediate availability is preferred. Selected contributors are expected to begin their first task within 24 to 48 hours of completing onboarding.
