Computational mathematics for AI evaluation

Create, solve, review, and validate mathematical tasks through programmatic and command-line workflows. Work spans advanced problem-solving, computational mathematics, numerical methods, and Python.

A task may involve turning a mathematical problem into a computational procedure, implementing equations or algorithms, calculating a reproducible result, and testing special cases. The final answer must be both mathematically and numerically valid.

Responsibilities

• Solve and validate advanced mathematical and computational problems.
• Translate requirements into precise, executable workflows.
• Implement solutions with Python and tools accessible from the command line.
• Automate calculations, numerical experiments, parameter sweeps, visualizations, and result validation.

Qualifications and tools

An MS or PhD in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, operations research, computational science, theoretical computer science, or a related quantitative field is expected. Alternatively, a relevant BS with at least one to two years of mathematics-focused professional or research experience at leading institutions or businesses may qualify.

Strong expertise is needed in at least one area such as numerical analysis, optimization, probability, statistics, discrete mathematics, algebra, geometry, mathematical modeling, or dynamical systems.

Relevant software includes Python, SymPy, SageMath, SciPy, CVXPY, NumPy, GNU Octave, Julia, and equivalent tools with command-line access. Python libraries may include pandas, Matplotlib, Jupyter, statsmodels, NetworkX, numerical solvers, optimization packages, or other scientific tools; no single library is mandatory.

Contract and selection

The contract is remote worldwide, with approximately 15 hours weekly and flexible scheduling, including weekends, while remaining active. The advertised range is $80 to $120 per hour, but payment is per task meeting specifications; task time varies and minimum submission requirements apply.

Selection includes screening questions, an AI interview of approximately 30 minutes, and hiring manager review. Immediate availability is preferred, with first tasks expected within 24 to 48 hours after onboarding.
