Inpatient Coder (CCS)

Coding and record review

Review inpatient medical records and AI generated notes to improve coding accuracy and data quality. Check documentation for completeness and alignment with current coding guidance.

• Evaluate clinical notes and summaries against practical documentation and coding standards.
• Code diagnostic and procedural information using ICD, Current Procedural Terminology and HCPCS systems.
• Identify and resolve diagnosis and procedure coding discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate record abstraction and data capture.
• Enter generated patient information into computerized inpatient and outpatient record databases.

Preferred qualifications

Active CCS, CIC, COC, RHIA, RHIT or another AHIMA or AAPC coding certification is preferred, along with ICD-10 experience. Current work in medical coding, clinical documentation improvement or a related documentation role is relevant.

Access to current official ICD-10 and procedure coding books and evaluation and management guidance is preferred. The listed preferred availability is at least 10 hours per week.
