Software Engineer, Data Platforms

The work

Own full stack features for human data systems, spanning backend services, pipelines and expert facing interfaces. Work with coding agents as your primary development method and collaborate with research, operations and product teams to ship reliable software.

• Build complete features across backend APIs, data pipelines and React interfaces.
• Own client data exports, access permissions, supporting infrastructure and delivery reliability.
• Turn desired outcomes into scoped plans, direct agents in parallel when useful and review their architecture before shipping.
• Maintain Python services with FastAPI and TypeScript applications.
• Improve data models, schemas and query performance in relational and document databases.
• Translate research and operational requirements into production systems with product colleagues.
• Refine the frameworks, checks and evaluations supporting rapid, high quality agent assisted development.
• Diagnose production problems and improve monitoring and resilience.

Experience and skills

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering or a related field, or comparable practical experience.
• Zero to five years of engineering experience, or strong shipped projects as a recent graduate.
• Python and TypeScript fundamentals with CRUD application experience in FastAPI or Flask and React.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, MongoDB or SQLite and core data modeling.
• Experience deploying services to GCP, AWS or Azure.
• Routine development with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or similar agents, and the ability to explain that workflow.
• Skill planning work, directing agents, validating results and spotting architectural problems they miss.
• Understanding of agent loops, MCP, tool and data integrations, access controls and security.
• Familiarity with context management, RAG and workflow evaluation.
• RL concepts, coding data pipelines, task authoring systems, CI/CD, DevOps and team, open source or startup work are preferred additions.

Working arrangements

This full time remote position has a national base salary range of $120,000 to $160,000 per year. Employees are eligible for equity, and performance bonuses may apply depending on role and policy.
