Product and engineering ownership

Build software across internal systems, products and AI workflows, owning the work from initial ideas and architecture through implementation, launch and improvement. The role suits an engineer who connects user needs and business goals with practical technical decisions.

This is a full time remote position. Experience as an early engineer at a growing startup is relevant, particularly where you helped set architecture and product direction while systems evolved with the business.

What you'll own

• Turn ambiguous ideas and business requirements into production ready products.
• Lead the full engineering lifecycle, including discovery, system design, development, deployment and iteration.
• Design reliable, scalable systems with considered choices around architecture, data models, APIs and integrations.
• Work with product, design and operations to define requirements and challenge assumptions.
• Develop internal tools and AI workflows that improve operations and support growth.
• Work with AI development tools to improve engineering speed and quality.
• Balance speed, simplicity, performance and future scalability when making technical decisions.
• Resolve technical problems and continually improve system reliability, architecture and the product experience.

Required background

At least four years of professional software engineering experience is expected, with a strong foundation in full stack development and backend systems. You should have experience designing and evolving production systems and taking products from concept to launch.

• Early startup engineering experience, contributing to technical and product decisions.
• Strong system design skills and knowledge of backend architecture, APIs, databases and modern engineering principles.
• Practical experience building across the stack, with flexibility to choose appropriate frameworks and tools.
• Daily experience with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code or similar software.
• An understanding of how engineering choices affect user needs, business goals and product outcomes.
• Comfort making independent decisions, challenging assumptions and owning solutions amid ambiguity.

A practical approach to shipping, learning and iterating is important throughout the role.

Helpful experience

Experience with AI products, agent workflows or applications integrating language models is useful. Internal tools, developer tooling, workflow automation, cloud infrastructure and distributed systems are also relevant.

Experience evolving architecture through startup growth, or working closely with founders and product leadership, is a plus.

Compensation and benefits

The stated national base salary range is $120,000 to $160,000 USD. Employees are eligible for equity compensation; performance bonuses may also be available depending on the role and applicable policies.
