Scientific problem solving

Solve, review and validate difficult scientific or mathematical problems for AI training. A typical task may combine a rigorous solution, calculations or simulations in Python, and an assessment of whether an AI answer is technically sound.

The work is coding intensive, and experience using coding agents in your workflow is required.

• Solve complex problems in your own scientific or quantitative specialty.
• Review generated solutions for factual, mathematical and scientific accuracy.
• Identify faulty assumptions, reasoning errors, missing constraints and subtle technical mistakes.

Relevant expertise

Deep expertise in one field is sufficient; you do not need to cover every STEM discipline. Areas include chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics, earth science, geoscience, environmental science and robotics, with related scientific or quantitative fields considered where relevant.

• Practical Python or other programming language proficiency.
• Strong scientific, mathematical or quantitative reasoning.
• Demonstrated subject expertise from research, industry, teaching, engineering, independent technical work or comparable experience.

Tools may include NumPy, SciPy, pandas, SymPy, Jupyter or specialist scientific libraries, but no particular Python library is mandatory. A specific degree or number of years of experience is not strictly required if you can demonstrate strong expertise.

Schedule and payment

This contractor opportunity is fully remote worldwide, for approximately 15 hours per week. You choose the days and hours, including weekends if desired.

The listing states $60 to $120 per hour, while actual compensation is based on each task that meets project specifications. Completion time varies with experience and workflow, and minimum submission requirements apply.

Selection and start

Selection includes screening questions, an approximately 30 minute AI interview and hiring manager review. Roles are typically filled within 48 hours, and selected experts are expected to start their first task within 24 to 48 hours after onboarding.
