Software Engineer – Retail Investing Platforms (Paid Expert Interview)

The interview

Discuss how your engineering team evaluates, chooses and integrates outside APIs and AI vendors for retail investing products. This is a single paid remote conversation lasting 45 to 60 minutes, scheduled at a time that works for you.

• Explain how an API or AI provider was evaluated or shortlisted and what drove the final decision.
• Describe what helped or hindered integration, including documentation, reliability, pricing, security and compliance review, and support.
• Give practical feedback on what engineers need from providers serving retail investing products.

Only your own experience and opinions are requested. You will not be asked to disclose confidential or proprietary employer information.

Participant requirements

• Be based in the United States and currently employed in-house, rather than as a freelancer or consultant.
• Work as a software, backend, integrations or platform engineer, or as a tech lead or engineering manager who remains hands-on.
• Work at a business serving retail investors, such as an online brokerage, investing app, robo-adviser, neobank offering investing, wealth service or brokerage infrastructure provider.
• Work on retail products rather than institutional, hedge fund or asset management desks.
• Have evaluated or integrated an external API or AI provider within the past 12 months, or expect to do so soon.
• Take part in evaluation or shortlisting, rather than only implementing a provider selected by others.

Helpful experience

Experience integrating market data, news, research or AI chat features is useful, as is experience across different business sizes or seniority levels.

The interview is a flexible, one-time commitment alongside your existing role. Your perspective will help shape AI and data products for retail investors.
