Description

Contribute to research on everyday phone use

Participate in a paid study in Midtown Manhattan examining how people who communicate in Hebrew use their devices, within a study recruiting several native language groups. Researchers want to understand everyday digital habits so future products can better reflect the people who use them.

What participation involves

  • Attend in person for one to three days and show researchers how you use your phone and favorite apps.
  • Share examples from your everyday phone activity, choosing for yourself which material to include.
  • Complete a brief questionnaire about your habits with phones, apps, and other digital tools.

Participant criteria

You must be at least 18, currently live in New York City, and be able to converse comfortably in English. A smartphone must have been your primary personal phone for at least three years, and your native language must be part of daily activities such as messages, email, or notes.

The study recruits native speakers who grew up in these countries:

  • Finnish speakers raised in Finland or Polish speakers raised in Poland.
  • Arabic speakers raised in Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates.
  • Hebrew speakers raised in Israel.

You need availability for three consecutive days, either Monday through Wednesday or Thursday through Saturday. People currently employed by a technology or AI business are excluded; international students, newcomers to the city, and those between jobs or with flexible schedules may find the timing suitable.

Payment and participation choices

Payment for the complete study is $1,200 to $1,600. Participation is voluntary, and a signed consent form explains the activities; you can ask questions throughout and end your participation whenever you choose.

Registration includes a short screening questionnaire. Session dates are confirmed after you have been shortlisted.
