Record natural speech for voice technology

Contribute spoken audio to a short data collection project supporting technologies that respond to voice commands. The assignment consists of a single task: recording several sentences in different noisy surroundings while keeping the speech audible.

Recording task

• Record the requested sentences in environments with background noise, making sure your words can still be heard.
• Possible settings include walking along a street, riding as a passenger in a moving vehicle, sitting in a busy restaurant or café, or being in a room where a television is playing.
• Follow the detailed project manuals for the technical and procedural steps involved in the assignment.
• Attend an optional introductory session if you want clarification about the recording process or technical requirements.

The work is performed remotely through an online service that is accessible at any time of day, seven days a week. This is a freelance opportunity offered under a commercial contract.

Language and equipment

You must be a native speaker of the language required for the project. The equipment requirement is a mobile phone; tablets cannot be used for this assignment.

• Have an Android phone or a phone running the latest iOS release available for recording.
• Arrange a stable internet connection and have headphones available.
• Connect from a secure internet location protected with a strong password.

Qualification process

After an application is submitted, qualification tests are sent by email. Completing these assessments is necessary to continue through selection, so check both the inbox and spam folder for the instructions.
