Description

Defensive security evaluation

Review generated cybersecurity material to improve the accuracy and safety of AI guidance. Assignments test whether recommendations would work in actual production environments and identify advice that could create risk.

  • Assess threat analyses, remediation instructions, security configurations, and defensive strategies.
  • Flag dangerous errors, outdated methods, misconfigurations, and misleading recommendations.
  • Evaluate incident response plans, detection rules, and system-hardening guidance for operational feasibility.
  • Create realistic scenarios and prompts that reveal model blind spots.
  • Give detailed feedback on technical correctness, completeness, and safety.
  • Check defensive code snippets, scripts, and tool settings against sound security practices.
  • Manage independent assignments asynchronously.

Required experience

You need practical defensive security experience in at least one area, such as network security, endpoint protection, SIEM or SOC operations, incident response, vulnerability management, cloud security, or identity and access management.

A solid understanding of MITRE ATT&CK, kill chain concepts, and defensive responses is essential. You should critically examine technical recommendations and recognize mistakes that could cause real harm.

The role requires concise explanations of complex security ideas, thorough review, and reliable work without direct supervision. Previous AI, machine learning, or data science experience is not necessary.

Helpful background

Relevant certifications include CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GIAC, and equivalents. SOC, CSIRT, or cybersecurity consulting experience is useful, as is familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, EDR, SIEM tools, and vulnerability scanners.

Penetration testing, red teaming, threat hunting, and writing runbooks or technical advisories are welcome. Knowledge of NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, PIPEDA, or SOC 2 and security on AWS, Azure, GCP, or container systems are also relevant.

Experience interacting with or evaluating AI tools is an additional advantage.

Terms

The hourly engagement is fully remote and flexible, with 10 to 40 hours each week. Work connects defensive expertise with AI research and an international specialist community, with possible continuing projects or contract extension.
