Description
Infrastructure engineering and automation
Own infrastructure reliability, scalability, and observability while building automation that helps systems manage more of their own operations. This full-time remote role spans cloud infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, security, and incident response.
The work calls for deep production engineering experience and practical use of AI coding agents. You will build tools that help a small team deliver quickly while maintaining reliable services.
Responsibilities
- Design AI-assisted workflows for provisioning, deployment, monitoring, incident detection, and automated remediation.
- Build resilient, secure cloud architecture for evolving AI products and workloads.
- Establish logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and alerts that give useful visibility into production health.
- Remove repetitive infrastructure work through automation, self-service tools, and agent-assisted operations.
- Own cloud security hygiene, dependency upgrades, runtime migrations, and infrastructure modernization from design through production.
- Build tools that simplify deployment, debugging, and service operation for engineers.
- Mentor colleagues, establish technical standards, and guide architectural decisions through hands-on leadership.
Required background
- Staff-level experience in infrastructure, DevOps, site reliability engineering, or platform engineering.
- Substantial hands-on operation of production systems on AWS, GCP, Azure, or comparable major cloud services.
- Expertise in infrastructure as code, container orchestration, CI/CD, networking, cloud security, and distributed systems.
- Experience designing observability and incident response for complex production environments.
- Direct ownership of migrations, security improvements, and reliability initiatives.
- Extensive daily use of AI coding agents and a record of building automation that reduces repetitive engineering work.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to build internal tools, automation frameworks, and production infrastructure services.
- Independent identification of systemic problems and delivery of solutions through implementation.
- Experience mentoring engineers while remaining actively involved in technical work.
Helpful experience
Automation that removes whole categories of manual operations is valuable, as is experience using AI agents for incident triage, infrastructure operations, or remediation. Experience helping small engineering teams run reliable systems at scale is also useful.
The role values engineers who can move between production incident debugging, architecture, and the code that improves both. A programmable approach to infrastructure and substantial practical automation experience are relevant strengths.
Compensation and benefits
The national base salary range is $220,000 to $300,000. Employees are eligible for equity and may receive performance bonuses depending on role and applicable policies.
Benefits include up to 100% reimbursement of health insurance premiums, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with an employer match.
