Aviation Subject Matter Expert - Commercial Pilot / Flight Ops

The work

Help improve aviation AI through detailed review of instrument approaches and cockpit briefings. Check technical claims and recommend corrections using commercial pilot or flight operations experience. No previous AI work is needed.

• Review generated material concerning instrument approaches and cockpit briefings.
• Check references to FAA approach charts and terminal procedures for completeness and accuracy.
• Assess cockpit terminology and briefing content against Part 135 safety and operational requirements.
• Evaluate individual statements for consistency with IFR procedures and sound flight operations practice.
• Document concerns, suggest specific corrections and provide constructive feedback.
• Clarify requirements with coordinators so the resulting work meets aviation safety expectations.

Experience and skills

• Preferred candidates hold an FAA commercial pilot certificate with instrument and multiengine ratings.
• Current or previous CFII or Part 135 check airman experience.
• Detailed familiarity with FAA approach charts, terminal procedures and instrument briefing conventions.
• Thorough understanding of IFR operations, Part 135 requirements and aviation safety standards.
• Strong technical writing and spoken communication, with document preparation or review experience.
• Ability to assess difficult technical material and explain practical improvements.
• Interest in advancing aviation safety through expert evaluation.
