Description
Translate regulated medical content
You'll contribute specialist translation and review for the US Spanish market, with particular emphasis on life sciences. The work calls for senior linguistic judgment in patient records, clinical protocols and other medical or regulatory material.
This opportunity is for professionals currently based in the United States. A record of accurate work in regulated medical markets is important because the assignment combines language quality with compliance requirements.
Medical responsibilities
- Adjust and validate translated content against the applicable regulatory and compliance standards.
- Draw on professional translation experience in pharmaceuticals, medical devices or biotechnology.
- Follow standard operating procedures in strict GxP environments.
- Maintain the quality standards associated with ISO 17100.
- Handle patient records and clinical protocols with the terminology and contextual precision these documents require.
Language and experience requirements
Native-level proficiency in the target language and professional translation or localization experience in medical or life sciences content are required. You must follow terminology and reference materials accurately.
Candidates qualify through a graduate credential in translation, linguistics or language studies; a graduate credential in another discipline plus two years of full-time professional translation; or five years of full-time professional translation experience.
The specialty requirement applies in addition to the general education or experience route. You should be able to demonstrate past work in the medical and life sciences domain, rather than relying solely on general translation experience.
Availability and contract terms
This is independent 1099 contract work intended to supplement other income, not a full-time job or guaranteed primary income source. Demand changes between projects, so assignments and hours are not guaranteed.
You decide when to work and how much to accept, without fixed schedules or routine check-ins. Once you accept an assignment, reliable availability, quality work and timely delivery are expected; most tasks require at least two hours per day or ten hours per week.
Employee benefits are not included: the arrangement does not provide health insurance, paid time off or retirement contributions. Contractors handle their own taxes, and geographic restrictions may affect participation.
Projects and professional development
Paid assignments combine language expertise with AI and language technology, with prompt payment for completed work. Access to varied projects can broaden your portfolio and develop skills across different industries and subject areas.
The work connects linguists, subject specialists and other language professionals in an international community. Their contributions support multilingual AI and human-reviewed services for businesses, governments and AI developers, while offering opportunities to build a professional network.
Specialist selection process
Start with an English-language résumé or CV. The experience check requires a project list or references demonstrating work in regulated medical markets, alongside the life sciences questionnaire.
A compliance review confirms familiarity with regulations relevant to the destination market. The listing gives Japan's pharmaceutical and medical-device law as an example for Japan-bound content, rather than as a universal requirement.
A domain-specific translation or review assessment is also required. These checks establish the medical experience, local regulatory familiarity and translation quality needed before participation.
Automated tools may assist with résumé review, test scoring or interview analysis. These tools support the evaluation process, but final selection decisions are made by people.
