Description

Medical language work

Experienced Farsi linguists can contribute to a medical talent community focused on regulated life sciences material. The work calls for particular familiarity with patient records and clinical protocols, along with a record of translating or localizing medical content.

Assignments involve medical and regulatory text where terminology, reference documents and compliance requirements must be followed closely. Experience should include work for pharmaceuticals, medical devices or biotechnology.

  • Adapt translated material and validate it against the applicable regulatory standards.
  • Follow supplied terminology and reference material accurately throughout translation and review.
  • Work within strict GxP procedures and meet ISO 17100 quality requirements.

Language, location and qualifications

You must have Farsi proficiency at native level and currently be based in the United States. Professional translation and localization experience in medical or life sciences work is required, with an established record appropriate to a senior linguist.

Meet one of these alternative qualification routes:

  • Hold a graduate qualification in translation, linguistics or language studies.
  • Hold a graduate qualification in another subject and have at least two years of full time professional translation experience.
  • Have at least five years of full time professional translation experience.

The education and experience routes are alternatives; familiarity with medical material and precise handling of terminology remain central to the work. Experience with regulated products and the subtleties of clinical documents is particularly valued.

Contract terms and availability

This is independent contract work with control over when and how much you work, no fixed hours and no routine check-ins. Rates are described as competitive, and the arrangement includes prompt payment for project work.

Assignment volume changes with demand, so this is intended as supplemental income rather than a dependable full time job or primary income source. There is no guarantee of hours, and 1099 contractors do not receive health insurance, paid leave or retirement contributions. Handle your own taxes as part of the 1099 contract arrangement.

Once you accept an assignment, you must be reliably available, deliver on time and meet the quality requirements. Most tasks call for at least two hours per day or ten hours per week, which matters if your availability changes unpredictably.

The broader project pool includes AI and language technology work across different industries and subject areas. Participation connects linguists with a global community of language professionals and subject specialists, with opportunities to broaden a portfolio through varied assignments.

Selection and experience checks

The entry process verifies experience and knowledge of regulated medical work:

  • Provide a resume or CV written in English.
  • Supply a project history or references showing prior work in regulated medical markets, including the life sciences questionnaire.
  • Confirm familiarity with relevant local regulations. Destination rules can include Japan's Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Act when material is intended for Japan.
  • Complete a translation or review assessment focused on the relevant medical domain.

Application review may use AI and automated tools to help screen resumes, score assessments and analyze interviews. Human reviewers make the final hiring decisions.
