Art Buying and Photography Representation Expert

Art buying and representation review

Assess the decisions behind commissioning photographers and visual artists, including who fits a brief, what the work should cost and how the imagery can be used. This fully remote contractor opportunity is open worldwide at a rate that needs confirmation.

What you will assess

• Read briefs and determine the kind of photographer or artist best suited to the work.
• Review estimates for missing costs, inflated items or amounts outside a reasonable range.
• Check whether media, territory, duration and exclusivity rights match the client's needs and the amount paid.
• Identify gaps in contracts, releases, insurance or logistics that could cause problems during production or delivery.
• Explain each decision concisely so another reviewer can follow the judgment.

Relevant experience

Professional backgrounds include art buying, photo buying, creative or agency production, photography representation, artist representation and licensing management. You need experience commissioning, licensing or representing visual artists for agencies, brands, publications or studios.

That experience should include real briefs, estimates, negotiations, contracts and delivery. Practical knowledge of image licensing, clear written English and the ability to explain why a choice or price is appropriate are important.

Selection process

Submit a resume and a brief profile, then complete a short curation interview about experience with exhibitions, collections and attribution. No preparation, material review or written exercise is needed for that conversation, and completing it moves the application to the next stage.

Your experience is then assessed against project needs. Selected contributors receive guidelines and complete a first task that is reviewed before further work begins.

Rate discrepancy in the posting
