Language evaluation and device testing

Help evaluate a confidential AI and consumer technology program for a major technology and communications client. The work combines review of a prerelease AI model in Malayalam with practical testing on client supplied equipment, including a smartphone and next generation smart glasses.

Your language judgments will inform the product before its public release. Work takes place in a private, secure office area because the technology is confidential; home working and other remote arrangements are unavailable.

Evaluation responsibilities

• Assess Malayalam model responses for correctness, natural phrasing, appropriateness and overall language quality. Verify the factual content against the supplied reference material and consider whether a fluent speaker would express the response that way.
• Compare the localized experience with the English version, checking that features are equivalent and that a complete user journey works with input in the relevant language.
• Follow test coverage for non Latin scripts, accent marks, text direction and mixed language input. Check the product’s treatment of these cases as part of the specified language testing process.
• Find truncated, overflowing or incorrectly rendered text. Look for localization defects in dates, numbers, currencies, units and strings that remain untranslated.
• Document defects with reproducible steps, the device and operating system, locale, software build identifier and supporting evidence. Run the test again after a correction to establish whether the issue has been resolved.
• Offer a fluent speaker’s perspective on navigation, usability and subtle language choices. Assist with other linguistic assignments when needed.

Language and testing background

Written and spoken Malayalam must be at native or fully bilingual level, with familiarity with current everyday and technical usage. You should be comfortable handling smartphones and laptops and switching between iOS and Android environments.

Strong attention to detail and an objective approach to judging quality are necessary. You need to work independently, follow detailed scripts and guidance, and communicate defects clearly in English so developers can understand the problem.

Experience with software or application testing, localization quality checks or linguistic assessment is advantageous. It is not essential for someone who can demonstrate the required language ability and careful approach.

Collaboration

The assignment involves working with experienced language and testing colleagues on technology still months away from wider visibility. Accurate observations, clear reports and dependable retesting are central to the contribution.
