Review and edit photographs with attention to their quality, accuracy and suitability for a particular use. This fully remote contractor role is open worldwide and pays a rate that needs confirmation.

Image review tasks

• Compare image sets and select the strongest option for the intended purpose.
• Assess exposure, focus, color, noise and cropping, identifying technical issues that need correction.
• Flag alterations that change what an image depicts and check whether captions and descriptions accurately reflect the visible content.
• Explain your decisions briefly and clearly so another reviewer can understand the reasoning.
• Correct or retouch images according to the creative brief.

Relevant professional experience

Experience as a photo editor, picture editor, visual editor, retoucher or photo producer is relevant. You should have selected, edited or retouched images for publications, clients or brands and delivered work to an actual audience through print, web, social, broadcast or brand assignments.

You should work every day with professional editing software such as Lightroom, Photoshop or Capture One. Clear written English and the ability to explain why one image works better than another are essential.

Selection process

Submit a resume and short profile, then complete a brief editing interview about image selection and editing. The conversation does not require preparation, a review exercise or written work, and completing it advances your application.

Experience is assessed against the project's needs. Selected contributors receive guidelines and undertake an initial task, which is checked before subsequent assignments begin.

Rate discrepancy in the posting

The posting body lists $55 to $100 per hour, while its rate header lists $50 to $105 per hour. Confirm the applicable rate with the hiring company before accepting work.
