Description
Quality engineering with AI agents
Build an automated quality system in which AI agents help generate tests, run regression suites, investigate failures, and improve coverage. This full-time remote role is for a staff-level engineer with deep test automation expertise and strong software engineering fundamentals.
You will own the technical foundations that help engineers deliver reliable releases as product complexity grows, without a proportional increase in manual QA work.
Responsibilities
- Design AI-assisted workflows for test generation, automated regression checks, failure analysis, and bug triage.
- Build maintainable automation frameworks covering web applications, APIs, integrations, and critical end-to-end workflows.
- Integrate quality checks into development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes.
- Develop systems that detect regressions, identify likely root causes, classify failures, and reduce manual investigation.
- Apply AI agents to find coverage gaps, generate meaningful scenarios, and prioritize testing according to changes and risk.
- Design testing workflows that support growing product complexity and faster development.
- Make test reliability, regression trends, release readiness, and product quality visible to engineering teams.
- Mentor engineers, define testing standards, and establish shared ownership of software quality.
Required background
- Staff-level experience in quality engineering, software development in test, or test automation architecture.
- Strong programming skills and a record of building production-grade automation frameworks.
- Extensive experience automating web applications, APIs, and complex end-to-end workflows.
- Expertise with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, pytest, or equivalent testing tools.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, integration tests, contract tests, regression strategies, and testing infrastructure.
- Experience designing scalable testing systems, beyond maintaining individual test cases.
- Extensive use of AI coding agents and practical application of AI to test generation, automation, debugging, or quality workflows.
- Systems thinking, architectural ownership, and the ability to reduce repetitive QA work while remaining hands-on.
- Experience establishing engineering quality standards and mentoring developers or QA engineers.
Helpful experience
Experience building AI-assisted testing systems used in active development is valuable. Other useful backgrounds include reducing manual regression work through automation and supporting rapid product changes with a small engineering team.
Testing AI products, nondeterministic behavior, model evaluations, or agent workflows is also relevant. The role values engineers who can move between automation code, complex failure investigation, and quality architecture across an organization.
Compensation and benefits
The national base salary range is $180,000 to $250,000. Employees are eligible for equity and may receive performance bonuses depending on role and applicable policies.
Benefits include up to 100% reimbursement of health insurance premiums, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with an employer match.
