Description
Evaluate embedded and RF engineering
Create technical problems from actual embedded systems, DSP and RF work. Test whether AI recommendations reflect practical design, development, debugging, testing and deployment experience.
- Develop expert scenarios grounded in firmware, signal processing and radio-frequency engineering.
- Check technical accuracy, implementation feasibility and consistency with engineering standards and everyday practice.
- Review calculations, assumptions, designs and methods involving embedded firmware, real-time systems, signal processing, RF and wireless communications.
- Assess firmware architecture, hardware/software integration, signal analysis, RF designs, communications systems and embedded debugging.
- Explain findings in clear, structured written feedback that supports better AI performance.
Preferred technical profile
The ideal background combines three elements: at least two years of hands-on embedded, DSP, RF or related industry engineering; a relevant engineering degree; and proven depth in at least one specialty below. Candidates meeting two of those three elements are also welcome.
An MS or PhD in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering or a closely related field is preferred. A BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering is also suitable when backed by strong industry experience.
Specialties include firmware and embedded software; real-time or safety-critical systems; digital signal processing and signal analysis; RF circuits and systems; antennas and electromagnetics; wireless communications and protocols; hardware/software integration; and embedded hardware design, test and debugging.
Additional strengths
These qualifications are helpful rather than compulsory:
- Development with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, SPICE, LTspice, Altium, KiCad, GNU Radio or comparable environments.
- Experience with microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGAs, SoCs and related embedded computing hardware.
- RF measurements using spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes or software-defined radios.
- Knowledge of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular, GNSS, LoRa or other wireless technologies.
- PCB design, signal and power integrity, EMI/EMC or hardware validation experience.
- Work in embedded systems, semiconductors, telecommunications, aerospace, defense, automotive, consumer electronics or engineering technology.
Applicants must be based in Canada. Clear writing, careful attention to detail and independent remote work are required, including the ability to explain complex embedded systems, DSP and RF concepts in understandable terms.
Schedule and compensation
This is ongoing, part-time contract work supporting AI research, rather than a conventional engineering job. It can fit alongside your current role. Work remotely and asynchronously, choose your own pace and take on tasks without a fixed schedule or minimum hourly commitment.
Rates can reach $96 per hour, depending on the project. Assignment depends on project availability; other opportunities may open when the current project is full.
