Marine Geology SME - Core Logging & Sedimentology

The work

Help improve AI understanding of marine geology through rigorous technical review. Examine reference answers and generated content using practical offshore core logging and sedimentology knowledge. Previous AI experience is not necessary.

• Validate reference answers one statement at a time for scientific correctness and clear expression.
• Assess outputs about marine lithology, sedimentary structures, grain size classification and offshore core collection.
• Suggest detailed corrections to core logging and sediment identification material.
• Check descriptions of seabed sediments, soils and rock layers using advanced sedimentological judgment.
• Review and annotate cases and test materials using experience with offshore logs and visual core descriptions.
• Record uncertainties, unusual cases and insights encountered during review.

Preferred experience and skills

• Preferred candidates hold an advanced qualification in marine geology, marine sedimentology or a related discipline.
• Substantial practical work sampling, logging and describing offshore or marine cores, both visually and analytically.
• Expertise identifying sediments and sedimentary structures and characterizing ocean floor soil and rock strata.
• Precise written and spoken communication with strong technical review skills.
• Experience conducting or supervising offshore sediment surveys or joining marine coring projects.
• Familiarity with established sampling methods and visual description protocols.
• Earth science teaching, reference writing or training material review experience is helpful.

This is a remote contractor assignment supporting a marine science AI project.
