Description
Localization quality ownership
Take responsibility for supplier alignment and performance within assigned program teams. The scope includes on time delivery, compliance with client and project instructions, acceptance speed and the quality of completed language work.
Work directly with customers to understand their capacity needs and quality expectations, then coordinate with language services so those requirements can be met. Track customer objectives and key results and act when service quality or delivery targets are at risk.
Client and supplier responsibilities
- Coordinate supplier alignment with the partner engagement manager for the accounts covered by your program teams.
- Monitor supplier results against client thresholds, including delivery timeliness, speed of accepting tasks, linguistic quality and adherence to instructions.
- Lead client quality discussions, anticipate needs and manage escalations, root cause investigations and corrective or preventive actions.
- Maintain the client facing documents that explain language quality, and serve as the main contact for related questions.
- Design and establish the quality framework, keeping glossaries, style guides, translation memories and other language assets current.
- Communicate language and content capacity requirements to language services and provide the context needed to recommend new or replacement linguists.
- Intervene when quality service levels are missed and support project managers when suppliers repeatedly miss deadlines.
Measurement and improvement
Coordinate quality improvement plans, root cause analysis and corrective or preventive action with language services. Escalate suppliers below the agreed standards; if an improvement plan fails, language services informs talent procurement.
Arrange regular quality measurements for clients with linguistic quality assessment commitments. Analyze content types when necessary, support test translations by providing the required background, and prepare clear quality reports and presentations for clients.
Review existing processes and help develop client initiatives, internal improvements or new ways of working. Where required, train suppliers in client tools and account specific methods.
Experience and technical knowledge
You should have a demonstrated record in localization vendor management, language management or quality management, ideally in a busy client focused translation environment. A sound grasp of quality practices is essential.
Experience with translation memory tools, translation management systems and machine translation post editing workflows is expected. Familiarity with the language services sector, its technology, competitive environment and emerging trends supports informed decisions.
Communication and judgment
Communicate structured arguments effectively to colleagues, clients and suppliers, and use data confidently to guide decisions. You need to manage several competing deadlines while remaining accountable for the quality of the work.
The role requires practical problem solving, proactive risk assessment and an adaptable approach to priorities. Standard situations should be handled independently within established procedures, with creative thinking applied to opportunities for improvement.
