Music Production Expert - Japanese

Help assess generated music

Evaluate songs created by generative music models for a project with a leading AI research lab. You will review music in Japanese and English. Your listening judgments will follow detailed standards across many musical genres.

Listening and review tasks

• Judge paired tracks for musical expression, originality, fidelity to the prompt, singing quality, and the quality of production and mixing.
• Tag each song's genre, arrangement, instrumentation, vocal elements and other musical features.
• Check generated lyrics and vocal performances against reference material to assess accuracy and quality.

Experience and equipment

Native or almost native command of Japanese, plus the ability to understand detailed English instructions, is required. You need at least two years in music production, audio engineering or mixing, together with headphones or studio monitors suited to close, critical listening.

Formal study of performance, composition or music theory is helpful. Credits or commercially released work in production, engineering or mixing, as well as familiarity with current Japanese genres, subgenres and artists, are also welcome.

Timing and payment

The project can start immediately and may run for as long as six months. Hours are flexible: experts commonly contribute about 20 hours each week, with no upper limit.

The role currently pays by the hour. Payment may switch to a rate per task during the project, with the effective hourly rate preserved.

Getting started

The selection process includes a resume submission, the remaining application steps and a bilingual competency interview in Japanese. Instructions on what comes next and onboarding information should arrive within a few days.
