Translation and quality delivery

Translate assigned client material in the required tools, covering marketing, help content, user interfaces and regulated documents. Support selected copy editing assignments and follow the relevant client process, style guide and content requirements.

• Become proficient in the standard CAT environment and supporting tools for queries and checks of live interface elements.
• Raise questions when clarification is needed and follow the established translation workflow precisely.
• Incorporate corrections from senior linguists and client reviewers, track your error patterns and focus improvement on weaker areas.
• Participate in internal and client training, discussions of disputed errors and regular quality meetings or calls.
• Meet the agreed productivity, quality and delivery indicators, as well as the goals set by the team manager.
• Identify gaps in your own work and seek appropriate support from senior colleagues.

Education and experience

The education requirement can be met through a degree in translation, applied languages or linguistics; a degree in another subject plus 2 years of full time translating; or 5 years of full time professional translation experience.

The stated experience range is 2 to 4 years in translation, localization, editing or content writing. You need native fluency in the target language and fluent written and spoken English, together with a practical understanding of localization processes.

Tools and working skills

Familiarity with Windows and Office applications is expected. Relevant tools include XTM, SDL Studio and systems for tracking issues and questions, such as JIRA.

You should learn unfamiliar localization applications quickly, communicate well with colleagues and clients, and work effectively within a virtual team. Clear presentation of information and responses to questions from managers, customers and linguists are part of the role.

The work requires practical problem solving, adaptability, motivation and the ability to meet tight deadlines while keeping quality consistent.
