Federal acquisition expertise for AI

Develop evaluation materials that reflect the decisions, regulatory requirements and practical complexity of federal procurement. This role draws on direct contracting experience and knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation and the acquisition lifecycle.

The engagement is an independent contract, with remote work in the United States on a part time, project basis. Compensation is $60 to $80 USD per hour, and previous AI experience is not required.

Scenario development and review

• Build realistic federal contracting scenarios from acquisition work you have handled personally.
• Prepare detailed reference answers that show sound contracting decisions and established acquisition practices.
• Review cases and answers written by other specialists, identify inaccuracies and provide constructive feedback.
• Check deliverables against current FAR requirements and relevant federal contracting standards.
• Evaluate the realism and accuracy of materials covering procedures both before and after contract awards.
• Work asynchronously with project coordinators and other specialists to review deliverables and maintain quality.
• Contribute professional judgment that improves the relevance and effectiveness of AI evaluation content.

Required background

Current or previous professional federal contracting experience is required, including OPM series GS-1102 work or equivalent acquisition experience. You need a strong understanding of FAR and the full acquisition lifecycle, including activities before and after an award.

You must be able to put that knowledge into realistic scenarios and explain decisions clearly and accurately. Strong writing and spoken communication are required, along with a US location and reliable internet access for remote participation.

Preferred qualifications

Experience developing or reviewing acquisition scenarios, training resources or evaluation materials is useful. Current or past responsibility under a contracting officer warrant can also strengthen your application.

Relevant certifications include Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting and contracting certification under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act. These are preferred qualifications rather than mandatory credentials.

Assessment process

After the application, candidates are invited to an AI interview. It assesses federal contracting experience, knowledge of acquisition procedures and the ability to make sound decisions in realistic contracting situations.
