Materials Scientist (Nanoparticle Sizing & Lot Release)

Nanomaterial analysis for AI training

Contribute materials science expertise to a project evaluating nanoparticle sizes, particle size distributions and lot release qualifications. The engagement is remote and on a contractor basis, and prior AI experience is not required.

The analysis itself must be performed independently through manual methods. It relies on expert interpretation of Transmission Electron Microscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy images without automated or AI powered analysis tools.

Technical responsibilities

• Interpret TEM and SEM micrographs manually to measure nanoparticles and assess their morphology.
• Determine particle size distributions and document them with close attention to accuracy and reproducibility.
• Establish acceptance criteria for releasing material lots using technical reference cases and quality control standards.
• Write detailed reports describing findings, methods and recommendations for material qualification.
• Validate measurements through manual calibration, image thresholding and comparison with reference data.
• Participate in technical discussions about nanomaterial characterization and quality criteria, explaining key decisions to project stakeholders.

Preferred expertise

Advanced knowledge of nanomaterial characterization, especially TEM and SEM, is preferred. Relevant practical experience includes nanoparticle sizing, distribution analysis and evaluation of lot release decisions.

The work benefits from manual image analysis skills, including calibration, thresholding and interpretation of complex particle shapes. Strong knowledge of quality control standards and protocols for qualifying reference materials is also useful.

Communication and working approach

You should be able to evaluate technical reference cases without AI tools and explain complex micrographs and critical decisions clearly. Strong written and spoken communication supports reports, technical discussion and knowledge sharing across the project team.

Experience in scientific consulting, materials science or analytical laboratory roles can strengthen your background for the engagement.
