Description
Genomics and cell biology for AI
Contribute recent laboratory or computational expertise to scientific AI development. Research and engineering teams need help identifying gaps in molecular cloning, primer and CRISPR design, functional genomics, sequence analysis and cell based assays.
Research contributions
- Create demanding biology tasks, benchmarks and training examples that require reasoning beyond direct searching.
- Write structured reference solutions for construct design, protocol planning and experimental troubleshooting.
- Assess the feasibility of protocols and computational workflows proposed by AI, reviewing both conclusions and intermediate reasoning.
- Give clear technical feedback on model responses and identify where biological reasoning is incomplete or unsound.
- Define specifications, scoring rubrics and verification methods for biology material produced by external teams, taking responsibility for subject quality.
- Coordinate with fellow specialists to make the data and evaluation standards consistent.
Required background
A PhD is required in molecular or cell biology, genetics, genomics, synthetic biology, biochemistry or a closely related subject. Strong recent doctoral graduates and postdoctoral researchers are welcome.
Recent hands on work may be experimental or computational and should involve techniques such as PCR or qPCR, molecular cloning, CRISPR, cell based assays, sequence analysis or functional genomics. Breadth across organisms, model systems and methods is valued over expertise confined to one narrow technique.
You should be comfortable with scientific software and AI tools; programming is not required. One to 3 years after the PhD is helpful, as is experience reviewing AI models or agents, creating benchmarks or designing grading criteria.
Engagement and communication
This is a part time position through an employer of record partner or an appropriate international entity, with the opportunity to contribute within an AI laboratory’s extended workforce. The employment partner manages the employment relationship, payroll and benefits.
At least 20 hours of reliable weekday availability are required each week. Clear technical writing and constructive collaboration are essential, including the ability to explain complex scientific decisions in terms that other reviewers can follow.
