Principal / Lead Systems Engineer

Systems engineering for AI research

Develop engineering projects that help AI plan, execute and validate technical work. The role draws on experience leading multidisciplinary projects to coordinate experts, define objectives and establish criteria for evaluating results.

This is remote contract work. Applicants based in the United States are preferred, and strong candidates elsewhere are also considered.

Tasks and project structure

• Create realistic projects that span mechanical, electrical, hardware, software and manufacturing disciplines.
• Convert project goals into clear requirements, technical constraints and measurable acceptance criteria.
• Break complex projects into connected tasks with defined inputs, outputs, dependencies and expert ownership.

Required qualifications

Substantial experience as a principal systems engineer, lead systems engineer or comparable technical leader is required. You must have led complex engineering projects that involved several technical disciplines.

Strong skills in requirements engineering, interface management, system integration, verification and validation are essential. English proficiency of at least B2 is required.

Preferred experience

A master's degree or PhD in systems, mechanical, electrical or computer engineering, or a related subject, is useful. Experience with model based systems engineering, SysML or requirements management software can also support your background.

Preferred experience includes leading work from initial requirements through integration, testing and delivery. Relevant settings include aerospace, automotive, robotics, industrial systems, medical devices and similarly complex engineering environments.
