Clinical Informatics Specialist

The work

Review clinical workflows and healthcare data structures to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement. This flexible remote contract focuses on EMR processes, decision support, data quality, and interoperability.

Responsibilities

• Assess workflows driven by EMR systems and the structure of clinical data for gaps or inefficiency.
• Review decision support rules and identify inconsistent behavior or potential improvements.
• Describe workflow behavior and document unusual cases precisely.
• Evaluate data quality, exchange between systems, and transformation rules.
• Interpret clinical standards, terminology, and mappings using FHIR, HL7, and SNOMED.
• Contribute to recurring reviews of informatics datasets for continuing accuracy and alignment.

Background and skills

Relevant experience must be in healthcare IT, clinical operations, or clinical informatics. Strong working knowledge of EMR systems, data schemas, and clinical standards such as FHIR, HL7, and SNOMED is required.

You should be analytically minded, communicate complicated findings clearly and concisely, and review details carefully while working without close oversight.

Additional strengths

Designing or validating clinical decision support tools is useful experience. Familiarity with data exchange protocols, interoperability frameworks, clinical practice, informatics research, or healthcare quality improvement is also welcome.

Working arrangements

This is a remote hourly contract with flexible working hours. Work is organized around independent assignments and a flexible schedule. Assignments are asynchronous and involve collaboration with healthcare and technology professionals.

Future projects may lead to continued work or contract extensions.
