Speech recording project

Record authentic Scottish English conversation to support AI speech research. The project captures natural rhythm, tone, and delivery so that AI can better understand human speech. It does not involve cloning your voice.

Session work

• Record conversational speech in a professional studio assigned locally in Scotland.
• Take part in recordings with one speaker as well as dialogue between two speakers.
• Deliver realistic conversation that sounds natural and spontaneous.
• Respond to light direction by adjusting tone, pace, and delivery across different takes.

Your authentic accent and professional recording skills are central to this work. The focus is on credible everyday conversation rather than a strongly performed reading.

Required background

Applicants must be professional voice actors or voice over artists with relevant recording experience. Native or near native Scottish English speech is required, and you must currently live in Scotland.

You should be comfortable performing conversation and dialogue in a studio, reliable about session commitments, and receptive to direction. Working English is needed for communication during recording.

Additional strengths

Acting or other performance experience is useful, along with previous work in broadcast, podcasts, or commercial recording studios. Experience recording conversation or dialogue is also welcome.

Contract and commitment

This is a paid contract involving two to three sessions, each lasting four hours. Recording takes place in person, with a focused commitment over a small number of sessions. Compensation is paid at an hourly rate.
