Description
The work
Translate advanced mathematical reasoning into formal proofs that help AI learn rigorous foundations. This remote hourly contract involves 10 to 40 hours weekly, with work in Lean 4 and large proof collections such as mathlib.
Responsibilities
- Formalize theorems and arguments from graduate texts and research across mathematical disciplines.
- Write readable proofs that improve the scope and quality of large formal mathematics libraries, including mathlib.
- Audit existing formal proofs for correctness, clarity, and mathematical validity.
- Convert informal reasoning into structured proofs that can be checked by a machine.
Background and skills
Applicants must hold a master’s degree or PhD in Mathematics or a related field and have experience writing rigorous proofs. Proficiency with formal proof assistants is required, with Lean 4 strongly preferred.
You should be able to connect mathematical intuition with formal structures, check each step carefully, and manage independent work without close supervision.
Additional strengths
Useful experience includes proof verification, theorem proving, formalization projects, mathlib or other large proof libraries, and formal systems research. Annotation, data quality evaluation, and other assistants such as Coq, Isabelle, or Agda are also welcome.
Working arrangements
This is a remote hourly contract with 10 to 40 hours per week. Work is organized around independent assignments and a flexible schedule. Assignments are asynchronous and offer collaboration with AI researchers.
Future projects may provide ongoing work and contract extensions.
