General Postdoctoral Researcher (Masters/PhDs)

The work

Create and solve complex research problems that reveal weaknesses in AI reasoning. This remote hourly contract involves 10 to 40 hours per week and draws on advanced technical expertise, research judgment, and precise written explanations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and solve demanding problems that span disciplines and reflect practical research questions.
• Construct problem statements that expose gaps in model capabilities.
• Review generated answers for disciplinary accuracy, sound logic, and academic rigor.
• Refine model evaluations asynchronously with AI researchers and other subject experts.
• Ensure that deliverables are clear, substantive, and intellectually sound.

Background and skills

Applicants need a master’s or PhD in a STEM or highly technical discipline from a leading university. A strong record in research, peer reviewed publication, or the management of complex technical projects is required.

You must communicate difficult ideas precisely in written English and deliver reliable work without daily supervision. Contributors must be based in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand.

Additional strengths

Annotation, evaluation systems, or AI and machine learning workflows are helpful. Python, R, other research programming languages, work spanning STEM disciplines, and familiarity with reasoning benchmarks or model evaluation frameworks are also welcome.

Working arrangements

This is a remote hourly contract with 10 to 40 hours per week. Work is organized around independent assignments and a flexible schedule. Work can be arranged asynchronously around other commitments.

Further research assignments may support ongoing participation or extensions.
