Backend Python Engineer

The work

Help AI reason about practical software by reviewing Python code and building demanding algorithmic tasks. Explain architecture, backend logic and quality judgments with precise, structured technical feedback.

• Assess generated Python for correctness, efficiency, PEP 8 consistency and sound engineering practice.
• Develop difficult backend algorithms and data processing scripts to test model reasoning.
• Explain implementation logic, design choices and code quality decisions in readable language.
• Identify API edge cases, vulnerabilities and failure modes.
• Provide detailed feedback that guides improved code generation.

Experience and skills

• Deep Python skills, including Django, Flask, FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Three to five or more years writing production Python professionally.
• Strong understanding of advanced language features, performance and software design.
• Excellent writing that explains difficult technical ideas clearly.
• A bachelor’s degree or higher in computing or a related technical field.
• Independent motivation and comfort with asynchronous work.
• Annotation, RLHF or AI evaluation experience is preferred.
• API security, distributed systems or data engineering backgrounds are useful.
• Software testing and edge case analysis experience is helpful.

Working arrangements

This is an hourly contract for 10 to 40 hours each week, carried out fully remotely. Work independently and asynchronously on a flexible schedule. Further assignments or an extension may become available as new projects begin.
