Material Science Specialist (Masters/PhDs)

The work

Contribute advanced materials science expertise to AI training through rigorous problems and scientific review. Help researchers improve model reasoning about semiconductor materials, molecular modeling and related concepts.

• Develop, solve and critically assess advanced materials questions with practical scientific relevance.
• Design demanding problem statements in semiconductor science, molecular modeling or adjacent specialties.
• Collaborate asynchronously with researchers and other domain experts on improved AI reasoning.
• Check deliverables for scientific accuracy, depth and clear explanation.
• Contribute subject knowledge that strengthens model understanding of materials science.

Experience and skills

• A master’s degree or PhD in materials science or a closely related discipline.
• Deep expertise in semiconductors, molecular modeling or an adjacent area.
• Comfort programming in Python or MATLAB through research, coursework or practical projects.
• Strong writing that turns sophisticated science into structured, understandable content.
• Rigorous attention to scientific detail.
• Current residence in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia or New Zealand.
• Annotation, data quality or AI evaluation experience is helpful.
• Computational materials research, simulation work, scientific communication or peer review experience is an advantage.

Working arrangements

This is an hourly contract for 10 to 40 hours each week, carried out fully remotely. Work independently and asynchronously on a flexible schedule. Further assignments or an extension may become available as new projects begin.
