Federal tax evaluation

Assess AI tax reasoning through a remote contract focused on federal individual income taxation. The project draws on tax expertise and does not require an earlier AI role.

• Interpret specific provisions and subsections of the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury regulations and IRS guidance.
• Create precise rubrics and checklists that define a correct response using only authoritative sources.
• Classify each requirement by technical importance, separating critical, secondary and minor issues.
• Score AI tax analyses and computations for accuracy and completeness against those criteria.
• Write complete test scenarios for failed criteria, including difficult exceptions, relevant facts, dates, filing status and expected outcomes.
• Identify unclear provisions, statutory exceptions and conflicts in law or guidance, and explain them through structured digital feedback.
• Submit evaluations that clearly document the findings and support system improvement.

Preferred qualifications

An active CPA license, Enrolled Agent designation or experience as a U.S. tax attorney focused on federal personal income tax is preferred. Extensive practical experience preparing or planning individuals' federal tax matters is also valued.

The work benefits from an ability to analyze tax law beyond routine return preparation. Relevant reasoning includes conditions, thresholds, phaseouts, exceptions and defined terms.

Experience with complex issues such as investments, self employment income, equity compensation, rental property, or matters spanning states or countries is useful. Written explanations should be clear and objective, with criteria and outcomes that another reviewer can reproduce.

An interest in tax compliance technology, AI and digital review processes is another preferred qualification.
