Engineering evaluation

Create technical challenges and assess how AI reasons through mechanical engineering problems. Work draws on fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and other core engineering fields.

• Design demanding tasks in finite element analysis, heat transfer, kinematics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
• Write precise reference solutions with fully justified technical steps.
• Evaluate generated CAD reasoning, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for correctness and safety.
• Check consistency with engineering standards such as ASME and ISO.
• Identify errors in force distributions, violations of energy conservation, and other faulty reasoning, then explain the corrections.

Required expertise

A master's degree completed or in progress, or a PhD, in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field is required. You need strong foundations in one or more areas such as solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes.

The role requires clear written explanations of physical phenomena and mathematical ideas. Precision with derivations, unit conversions, and physical constraints is essential.

Previous AI experience is not needed. Annotation, quality evaluation, technical review, and familiarity with SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS are helpful.

Contract arrangement

This fully remote hourly contract offers flexible scheduling for 10 to 40 hours per week. Contributors work independently while collaborating with an international expert community and gain exposure to how advanced language models are trained and evaluated.

Strong performance may lead to extensions or additional projects. The work directly improves how AI represents and applies engineering principles in technically demanding assignments.
