Portuguese (Portugal) Linguistic Evaluator & Functional Tester

Evaluate Portuguese AI on real devices

Assess a pre-release AI model and test how it performs on client-supplied devices, including a smartphone and next-generation smart glasses. The role combines linguistic evaluation in Portuguese from Portugal with practical testing for a confidential consumer technology program serving a global technology and communications client.

All work takes place onsite in a private, secure office area because the technology is confidential and has not been released. Remote work is not available for this assignment. You will work alongside experienced language and testing professionals and may support other linguistic projects as needed.

Language and functional testing

• Review Portuguese responses for accuracy, naturalness, appropriateness, and overall quality. Check each response against its source material and judge whether the wording reflects how a native speaker would communicate.
• Compare the Portuguese experience with English to confirm that features are available in both. Complete full user journeys with non-English input rather than checking isolated strings alone.
• Test the handling of non-Latin scripts, diacritics, text that reads from right to left, and mixed-language input.
• Identify display defects, including text that is cut off, overflows, or renders incorrectly.
• Identify localization errors involving dates, numbers, currencies, units, or text that remains untranslated.
• Give a native speaker's perspective on navigation, usability, and language nuances that affect the experience.

Document and verify issues

Write clear issue reports that allow developers to reproduce a problem. Include the steps taken, device and operating system, locale, build ID, and supporting evidence. When a correction becomes available, test again to confirm that the problem has been resolved.

The work requires fair, objective assessments and close attention to details across both the wording of responses and the way the product behaves. Follow the supplied testing scripts and guidelines while communicating findings clearly in English.

Language and technical skills

• Native-level or fully bilingual written and spoken Portuguese from Portugal, with a current understanding of everyday and technical language.
• Confidence using smartphones and laptops, including moving between iOS and Android.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently through detailed test scripts.
• Clear English explanations of the issues you discover.

Previous software or app testing, localization QA, or linguistic evaluation experience is a strong advantage. It is not essential when supported by the required language proficiency and attention to detail.
