Pediatric nursing evaluation

Pediatric inpatient RNs contribute bedside judgment to the training and evaluation of clinical AI systems. The emphasis is translating real nursing assessments and documentation practices into structured feedback that improves accuracy, safety and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Assess AI clinical output derived from nursing flowsheet documentation.
• Check completeness, accuracy and conformity with current documentation standards.
• Label and organise pediatric inpatient nursing assessment information for training datasets.
• Give expert feedback on nursing assessments and how they should be documented.
• Highlight gaps, inconsistent content and potential risks in model responses.
• Seek clarification when annotation rules are unclear and help revise those rules.
• Work with technical colleagues on improvements to model performance.
• Help build clinical benchmarks of high quality.

Required experience

• Maintain an active US RN license outside California.
• Have pediatric acute care inpatient bedside experience within the past 10 years, preferably in a nonprocedural unit. Current or recent documentation experience carries more weight than total years in nursing.
• Be confident carrying out and recording comprehensive pediatric nursing assessments.
• Follow detailed annotation instructions consistently and communicate clearly in writing.
• Respond constructively to feedback, work independently and meet delivery deadlines.

Preferred skills

Epic EHR experience is helpful because it closely matches many of the workflows. Comfort learning browser based annotation tools, navigating transcripts efficiently and checking the output of AI assisted tools is also valuable.

Chart review for quality improvement, utilisation review, CDI or clinical informatics is relevant. Previous annotation, chart abstraction or healthcare AI work is welcome, along with a willingness to discuss unusual cases and refine guidance.
