Accounting Expert

Role Overview

This project-based role engages experienced accounting professionals to improve AI systems' understanding of financial reporting, tax compliance, audit procedures, and enterprise accounting workflows. Contributors apply accounting expertise to evaluation, annotation, and task design.

Key Responsibilities

• Review AI-generated outputs related to journal entries, financial statement preparation, tax calculations, audit procedures, and accounting standards interpretation.
• Create realistic accounting workflow scenarios, including month-end close, revenue recognition analysis, tax provision computation, internal control testing, and audit workpapers.
• Annotate, label, and validate data across accounting use cases such as lease accounting under ASC 842, consolidation, intercompany eliminations, and SOX compliance.
• Provide structured feedback on AI accuracy in US GAAP, IFRS, IRC, PCAOB standards, and professional ethics.
• Collaborate asynchronously with research teams to refine accounting-domain evaluation frameworks.

Ideal Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience at a public accounting firm, corporate accounting department, or government/nonprofit finance function.
• Background in external audit, including financial statement, integrated, or compliance audits.
• Tax background covering corporate, individual, partnership, state and local, or international work.
• Experience in financial reporting, controllership, internal audit, SOX compliance, forensic accounting, valuation, or advisory services.
• CPA license or CPA exam progress is strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to translate accounting workflows into structured tasks.
• Clear written communication and attention to detail.

Compensation Note

The project is expected to begin with an effective hourly rate. It will transition toward compensation based on throughput of quality work rather than a flat accruing hourly rate.
