Description

The work

Contribute theoretical and numerical physics expertise to a research focused AI project. Work as a solver, auditor or adjudicator according to your subfield strengths. Previous AI experience is unnecessary.

  • Analyze statistical physics questions involving replicated random bond Ising/Ashkin-Teller models, toric code thresholds and the Nishimori line.
  • Provide documented solutions or critiques addressing Kramers-Wannier duality, quenched disorder averaging, square lattice self duality and domain wall free energy.
  • Perform and interpret advanced numerical work involving the four state Potts model.
  • Investigate technical questions concerning noncontractible loop defects and related topological structures.
  • Take on solving, auditing or adjudication assignments aligned with your research experience.

Preferred experience and skills

  • Preferred candidates have a physics PhD or equivalent advanced experience, specializing in statistical physics, quantum information or condensed matter theory.
  • Direct research or project application of Kramers-Wannier duality, disorder averaging and square lattice self duality.
  • Demonstrated numerical expertise with four state Potts simulations and domain wall free energy analysis.
  • Knowledge of topological quantum codes, particularly toric codes and threshold behavior.

Working arrangements

This part time contractor engagement is fully remote and open worldwide. The schedule is flexible at five to ten or more hours a week, including evening or weekend work if needed.
