English to German (Germany or Switzerland) Linguist & Copy Editor for Product, Marketing & UI Content

Ongoing German localization

Support a long term project for a multinational client, translating US English into German for Germany, Switzerland or both markets. The assignment is remote and freelance, with an expected volume of at least 5,000 words per week.

Content and tasks

• Translate original material, review translated copy and edit machine translation output.
• Work across marketing, product descriptions, user interfaces, support and informational material, as well as light legal content.
• Produce accurate German that meets the standards for the relevant content type and locale.
• Work in the client’s own CAT environment, with tool training supplied as part of onboarding.

Experience requirements

Native level German for the required locale and excellent US English are essential. One qualification route is at least 2 years of professional translation experience with a degree in translation, linguistics or a related field; without a formal translation degree, at least 5 years of professional translation experience is needed.

You should have demonstrated English to German experience across the stated range of materials, especially informational, marketing, interface, product and support content. Familiarity with computer assisted translation tools is necessary.

Working relationship

Careful attention to detail, reliable delivery and the ability to meet deadlines in a busy localization environment are expected. Communication should be clear and responsive, with willingness to revise work and act on feedback.

The engagement offers continued support and collaboration with an international network of linguists on projects with broad visibility. It is intended as an ongoing professional relationship rather than a single isolated translation task.
