Build demanding financial research questions

Create questions about actual US public companies that require careful reading of lengthy SEC filings or investor relations documents, sometimes across several sources. Each question must have a verified answer supported by source evidence and must be checked against responses from current AI models.

This worldwide remote contract pays $30 to $60 per hour. An individual task typically takes around four to eight hours.

Research and testing work

• Frame questions around specific figures in annual and quarterly reports, current reports, proxies, earnings releases or investor presentations, including 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K filings.
• Build questions that require resolving discrepancies between documents, such as original versus restated amounts or adjusted versus reported results.
• Verify the fiscal period and document version, including whether an amended filing supersedes an earlier one.
• Test questions with current AI models and retain those the models answer incorrectly.
• Revise wording whenever it could reasonably lead to more than one correct answer.

Relevant experience

Direct experience reading US SEC filings and familiarity with US GAAP are needed. Candidates should be comfortable reviewing long documents, tables and footnotes, and writing clearly in English.

Suitable backgrounds include equity research or investment analysis of US businesses on the buy side or sell side. Investment banking and corporate development experience may cover mergers, equity markets, deal filings, prospectuses, ownership history and subsidiary structures.

Credit or restructuring specialists may draw on credit agreements, bond documentation and bankruptcy filings. SEC reporting and audit experience may involve Big 4 work, corporate reporting, restatements, disclosures and tracking changes between filings.

Corporate law or diligence experience is also relevant where it includes securities matters, KYC or investigations tracing entities, executives and related parties across records.

Selection and first assignment

The process begins with a resume and brief professional profile, followed by a short finance interview about US filings and financial reporting experience. No preparation or written exercise is needed for the interview; completing it advances the application for review.

Experience is assessed against the project's requirements. Selected contributors receive instructions and begin with an initial task that is reviewed before further work proceeds.
