Air Traffic Controller

The work

Help improve aviation communications AI by transcribing real air traffic control recordings. Your operational understanding will help resolve difficult audio and preserve critical instructions. Previous AI experience is unnecessary.

• Listen to authentic radio exchanges and produce structured transcripts that follow the project’s detailed rules.
• Capture headings, altitude instructions, frequencies and clearances precisely.
• Consult airport diagrams, approach charts and live aircraft positions to interpret the operational context.
• Resolve noisy or unclear passages using practical air traffic knowledge.
• Meet the specified transcription quality target, which may be a word error rate of 2% or less.
• Incorporate review feedback and protect the confidentiality of recordings under project security procedures.

Preferred experience and skills

• Preferred contributors hold or previously held controller certification in tower, approach, center or ground operations.
• Fluent spoken and written English, command of aviation phraseology and comfort understanding international accents.
• Careful listening and consistent attention to technical detail.
• Ability to work alone within written instructions and demanding accuracy standards.
• Reliable internet, a quiet workspace and suitable headphones for close audio review.
• Experience interpreting aviation charts, maps or navigation resources is helpful.

Working arrangements

This is a remote contract assignment focused on aviation communications.
