NDT Subject Matter Expert – Laser Shearography (Level II / Level III)

Review aerospace inspection evidence

Support an advanced aerospace inspection project through specialist analysis of laser shearography data. The remote contract work contributes expert input to AI training, and no previous AI experience is needed.

Manual analysis and reporting

• Study fringe patterns and interferograms to detect defects in composite materials and describe their characteristics.
• Interpret technical case documents, testing logs and inspection limits in the context of aerospace NDT standards.
• Assess defect category, severity and possible consequences for composite structures, explaining each decision in detail.
• Produce thorough written findings that help improve inspection protocols and technical procedures.
• Communicate clearly with project managers and technical colleagues through remote written and verbal discussions.
• Carry out every assessment and review manually, without assistance from AI tools.

Preferred technical qualifications

Preferred credentials include current Level II or Level III certification under ASNT, NAS 410 or ISO 9712 in laser shearography or a related NDT method. Extensive direct experience with shearography in aerospace or advanced composite inspection is particularly relevant.

Useful expertise includes interpreting fringe patterns and optical interferometry results, identifying defects, investigating root causes and reporting under demanding aerospace standards. Familiarity with established practices for nondestructive inspection of composites is also preferred.

Clear technical documentation and strong written and verbal communication help support collaborative problem solving. Previous technical guidance or quality engineering on comparable NDT work, especially direct inspection or review experience, is highly valued.
