Scientific problem development

Create, solve, and critically assess advanced materials science problems with practical research relevance. The work tests AI reasoning in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, and related specialties.

Qualifications

You must hold a graduate degree at master's or doctoral level in Materials Science or a related subject. You need substantial knowledge of semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or an adjacent research field, together with confidence coding in Python or MATLAB; research-level coding experience is particularly useful.

Fluent English and strong written explanations of scientific ideas are essential. Candidates must be based in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand and work carefully and methodically.

Helpful background

Data annotation, quality review, and AI evaluation experience are welcome but prior AI work is not required. Computational materials science, atomistic simulation, density functional theory, molecular dynamics, and related techniques are useful areas of experience.

Clear documentation of research for readers outside the specialty is also valuable.

Contract arrangement

This remote hourly contract offers flexible scheduling for 10 to 40 hours weekly. Training and onboarding support are provided, and additional projects may support continued work or contract extension.
