Distributed Rust engineering

Build and improve production systems that support AI data processing, annotation, and evaluation. The work emphasizes efficient execution, reliability, and safety in distributed infrastructure.

• Develop Rust systems for large data pipelines and model assessment workflows.
• Build backend services and full-stack tools for annotation, validation, and quality checks.
• Improve performance and safe behavior in existing codebases.
• Investigate distributed bottlenecks and difficult edge cases, then implement solutions that scale.
• Coordinate with research, data, and engineering colleagues and participate in live architecture reviews.

Required background

The role calls for professional production Rust experience in the three to five-plus year range. You need experience building distributed services with RPC frameworks, distributed state management, or consensus protocols.

Strong concurrency debugging is essential, including diagnosing deadlocks and race conditions with async instrumentation and tracing. Native or fluent English, clear spoken and written communication, and reliable independent delivery are required.

Useful experience

Prior work on annotation, data quality pipelines, or evaluation systems is helpful. AI or ML workflows, model training, benchmarking infrastructure, distributed systems at scale, and developer tooling are also relevant.

Contract arrangement

This fully remote hourly contract requires consistent availability for 20 to 40 hours per week. Working arrangements are flexible and primarily asynchronous, with synchronous design reviews as part of collaboration.

Further projects may provide ongoing assignments or contract extension.
