Evaluation scope

Review military activity scenarios for an AI training project and map them to an approved classification system. Distinguish conceptual explanations, lawful policy and readiness support, and evidence curation from requests involving operational decision support, destructive execution, autonomous weapons or unlawful planning.

This is a remote contractor role. Prior AI experience is not required; operational judgment and the ability to explain boundaries are the focus.

What you'll do

• Propose nuanced cases that less experienced reviewers might classify incorrectly.
• Grade responses for source handling, uncertainty, reasoning, limitations and operational usefulness.
• Assess whether conflicting evidence is acknowledged appropriately.
• Flag incorrect refusals of valid conceptual or policy questions.
• Record edge cases, disagreements and unclear boundaries in a transparent, defensible answer key.
• Help refine evaluation guidance using experience in operations, targeting and fires.

Preferred background

Extensive experience in joint or service-specific fires, targeting or weapons employment decisions is preferred. Relevant backgrounds include combat pilots, battle managers, JTACs, artillery officers, naval strike officers, carrier air-wing targeteers and qualified air or missile defense specialists.

Advanced tactical training such as TOPGUN, USAF Weapons School, Joint Firepower Course or allied equivalents is valuable. Teaching, leadership or evaluation experience, including instructor, mission commander or debrief roles, is also preferred.

Strong communication and the ability to justify operational judgments clearly are important. Familiarity with laws of armed conflict or rules of engagement from an operational perspective is a plus, as is experience with model evaluation, wargaming or adversarial testing.
