Help an AI laboratory develop models with stronger molecular biology reasoning. The work focuses on decisions made before experiments, especially designing DNA and RNA sequences and the constructs that use them.

Scientific responsibilities

• Work with researchers and engineers to identify weaknesses in model reasoning and improve the associated training material.
• Create demanding tasks and thoroughly documented reference solutions for PCR, qPCR and cloning primers; plasmids and expression vectors; CRISPR guide and single guide RNAs; mRNA and other RNA constructs; and HDR or repair templates.
• Compare tasks and model responses with expert solutions, explaining problems with correctness, scientific rigor or biological reasoning.
• Write assessment guidance covering guide and target choice, homology arm length, primer melting temperature and specificity, codon optimization and regulatory elements.
• Coordinate with other specialists so that both the content and its assessment remain accurate and consistent.

Research and design background

An advanced degree is required in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, synthetic biology, bioengineering or a related life science, with a PhD strongly preferred. You need direct experience designing several types of nucleic acid constructs before experiments, together with the cloning strategy that supports them.

Relevant techniques include Gibson, Golden Gate, Gateway and restriction cloning, as well as codon optimization. A strong peer reviewed publication record is expected, with particular weight given to first author work in venues such as Nature journals, Cell, eLife, Nucleic Acids Research, PNAS and EMBO Journal.

Include publication links with your submission. Clear career progression and precise written explanations of design decisions are important; experience in AI training, model assessment or annotation is helpful.

Employment and availability

Commit reliably to at least 20 hours each week during weekdays. This is W2 employment through an employer of record partner, with an opportunity to work inside an AI laboratory’s extended workforce.

The employment partner administers payroll and benefits, while the work contributes directly to the client’s research activity.
